Helen McDougall and Doug Maclean,
have created a great country cafe in the tranquil heart of the panoramic
Strathbogie Ranges.

Quirky, couthie, country and inviting,
the Ruffy Produce Store is a great little spot in a wide open space.

Warm and cosy in winter and cooled by its high plateau location and shady oak trees in summer.

The store is comfortable, rustic and at the heart of the country community.

Ruffy, Victoria, Australia.

I’d love to tell you some fantastic stories about the origins of The Regimental Condiment Company. How we’ve supplied legions of armies and regiments since the 1800s, helped them fight wars and nourished the troops over many years… but it wouldn’t be true.

The fact is that the company started with one interesting product idea, a love of military history and a collection of old family recipe books.

Our family has had a long history of making preserves, relishes and sauces at home from recipes handed down through the generations. Old aunts like Miss Ursula Mulcair, who was Captain Gorman’s cousin and Mrs Florence Mallis, who was a missionary’s wife in India, passed their passion, knowledge and recipe books onto younger family members to continue the traditions. Some more family research unearthed even more great recipes that over the years, have stood the test of time… and taste.

We launched The Regimental Condiment Company with twelve products – four sauces, four chutneys and relishes and four jams and jellies.

But we’re developing some new products (from more old recipes we’ve been able to find) that will be coming soon.

We hope you enjoy our products as much as we enjoy making them.

This salt  (guradj gadjin) is from the Pink Lake, near Dimboola, Victoria.  This salt  is produced by Mount Zero in conjunction with the Traditional Owners – the Barengi Gadjin Land Council.  Working together they have adopted a hand-harvested and natural air-drying technique which was used on the Pink Lake more than a hundred years ago.

The salt (guradj gadjin) is unprocessed, unrefined and unadulterated allowing you to enjoy its natural health benefits.  The salt retains the pink colouring from the beta carotene when moist, and fades when dry.
